Hyderabad, May 11: Previously if we want passport we have to stand in a long wait in a queue but now it has become easy and simple. We can apply for the passport at employment office also.

Telangana government's NRI policy would also focus on issues related to protection and welfare of NRIs and also involve them in the development programs of their native country.

The External Affairs Ministry would also take up its first MEA-State Outreach program in collaboration with Telangana government to be held here on May 13 with all the stakeholders.

The outreach program would comprise setting up an integrated office at Hyderabad for facilitating easy access to the MEA offices like Passport Office, Head of MEA Branch, POE. The land will be identified by the State government in consultation with MEA.

The State will act as a facilitator to the NRIs intending to work for a noble cause in their respective districts. The Telangana government also offered to host Pravasi Bharatiya Divas-2019 in Hyderabad.

The other programs include 'Know India Programme' in Telangana to be hosted by Information and Communication, Tourism and Culture and IT developments to showcase best of India for benefit NRIs as well as foreigners and the opening of a Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana Skilling centre in Hyderabad.

A media campaign on safe and legal migration for overseas employment will be launched by I and PR department and manuals in Telugu and Urdu will be released to facilitate pre-departure orientation training.

A pilot project will be taken up at TOMCOM Mallepally with the services of employment exchanges in collaboration with Mee Seva outlets to speed up the process of issuing of passports and then extended to all the district employment offices.

The e-sanad project will be launched for digitising the process of authentication of documents and online application will be linked with passport, Aadhar, mobile number for slot booking for submission of original certificates for GAD stamping in Tatkal or general mode.

Telangana State IT and NRI Affairs Minister K.T. Rama Rao had attended a meeting convened by Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma swaraj at New Delhi recently to discuss issued faced by the Indian immigrants working in Gulf countries and Malaysia.

Sushma Swaraj given nod for this program and Union Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh and KTR are going to start this program.
