Ponnam Prbhakar petition dismissed

NEW DELHI, MAY 10: The Supreme Court dismissed a petition by former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar here on Tuesday.

Coming to details, MP Prabhakar filed a case to the Delhi police against his party colleague Lagadapati Rajagopal for spraying pepper spray in the Lok Sabha, it happened on February 14, 2014. during the debate on bifurcation of undivided Andhra Pradesh, this incident occurred.

Justice J. Chelameswar and Justice S. Abdul Nazeer has dismissed the petition as that it was moved three years after the incident.

When the petition came up for hearing, the court asked petitioner’s K. Sravan Kumar, the council of Ponnam Prabhakar about posting the case till after the summer vacation. While agreeing to that, counsel urged the court to issue notices to the respondents.



Explain the merits of the case The bench asked the counsel. Council narrated the incidents which took in the Lok Sabha and said Mr. Prabhakar had filed a complaint with the

Parliament Street police station regarding it and had written to the Speaker, Secretary General of the Lok Sabha and Chairman of Lok Sabha Privileges Committee.

The petition was devoid of merits and filed after three years of the incident and liable for dismissal, The bench said.
