IS AAdhar data safe?

Hyderabad MAY 09: We know that the central government has issued Aadhar card to each and every one but there are rising concerns about privacy issues.

Some of the concerns are

*If the Aadhar is linked with our bank accounts and if
the data goes to Cyber criminals there may be a huge
the threat to individuals.

*If Aadhar is linked for traveling in Airports and
Railways then there is a chance that the government
has sources to spy on citizens.

Although there are concerns about the privacy there
are many uses.

Some of the uses are

* It eliminates ghost beneficiaries of government
subsidy so that leakage can be eliminated.

* To catch criminals with the help of linkage biometric
data to forensic labs.

The supreme court has clearly said that Aadhar can be used for Non-welfare schemes and it is the voluntary of the citizen to link welfare citizens.

The Central government has said that the Aadhar law is very strong and has provisions for dealing with misuse of details.

Finally, the Aadhar founder Nilekani said that Aadhar is unique Identification card and the details will be safe with the government.
