Hyderabad May 05: We all knew K.Viswanath 87-year-old has received 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award' at the Vigyan Bhavan from Pranab Mukherjee.

He was Congratulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media here on Thursday.

Coming to matter, The highest recognition in Indian cinema, 'Phalke award' which includes a golden lotus, a cash prize of Rs 10 lakhs, a citation and a shawl was received by the Great Director K.Viswanath.

He is the 48th recipient to receive this prestigious award.



Modi tweeted, "Shri K Viswanath has distinguished himself as an outstanding filmmaker. I congratulate him on being conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke award." He also congratulated all the artists who received awards.

Viswanath has won five National Awards, 20 Nandi Awards (awarded by the Andhra Pradesh government) and 10 Filmfare Awards including Lifetime Achievement Award. He received Padma Shri in the year of 1992.

He directed 50 films, known for their strong content, endearing narrative, honest handling and cultural authenticity. Sargam, Kaamchor, Sanjog, Jaag Utha Insan, and Eeshwar are some of the Hindi major films. He's known more for his classics like Sankarabharanam, Sagara Sangamam, Swati Muthyam and Satapadi.
