Supreme Court about Gorakshak teams

New Delhi, May 04: The Supreme Court on Wednesday deferred the hearing of the petition for action against those who committed violence in the name of 'Goraksha teams', for six weeks.

A bench headed by Justice Deepak Mishra asked the Central Government and five states- Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand to file their replies within six weeks during the hearing of the petition filed by Congress leader Tehsin Poonawala and two others.

The response was made by the sixth respondent Karnataka Government in this case. The petitioner is aware that most of the Gorakshars are involved in criminal activities and spread violence in the name of cow protection.

Meanwhile, the Goraksha Vahini has filed a petition in this matter, which the court accepted the request for hearing.
