Two killed, while explosion occurred in a pharamacity

Vishakapatnam, May 03: An unfortunate incident has occurred and two have died, two were seriously injured in Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City at Parawada near Visakhapatnam here on Monday morning.

While coming to details, Here a drastic incident, Two reactors were exploded in a pharmaceutical unit.The accident occurred in Azico Biophore when cleaning operation was under progress with a solvent to prepare a new product.

The deseased were identified as M. Siva Kumar, 24, chemist and P. Nageswara Rao, 30.

The injured M. Appala Naidu, 31, executive, G. Srinivasa Rao, 40 and J. Manikantam, 22, helper, were shifted from a government hospital to a corporate hospital following demand by union leaders. The condition of two of the injured is stated to be critical.



According to CEO of Pharma City Lal Krishna, the fire was put out immediately after it was noticed preventing its spread to raw material storage area. The cause for the accident was not immediately known and an investigation is on.

The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board had suspended the licence of Azico Biophore and four other units at JNPC in October, 2016, for not adhering to norms on waste disposal.

After ensuring that the norms were being complied with, the APPCB revoked the order a few months later, it is learnt.
