ISRO to launch South Asian Satellite

Bangalore MAY 1: Indian Space Research Organisation ISRO is all set to launch South Asian satellite on MAY 5.

Speaking in his monthly radio Conference to people Mann Ki Baat Prime Minister Modi said that "it is proud for the entire country that ISRO is helping all SAARC countries by launching a satellite".

We know that PM has already officially announced that ISRO will launch a satellite for SAARC countries on the occasion of SAARC Conference held in Nepal on November 26, 2014.

PM had earlier while speaking to ISRO on June 30, 2014, gave a challenge to scientists that they should develop a satellite which would be helpful to all countries.

The scientists have taken up the challenge and within 3 years they have developed a satellite.

Earlier the Government changed the name of the satellite from SAARC satellite to South Asian satellite because of the objection of the Pakistan.



The satellite will be useful for the following Countries Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Afghanistan.

The uses of this satellite are
Useful in Telecommunication.DTH (DIRECT TO HOME) services. VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminals)
Tele-Education, Tele-Medicine.This satellite will be helpful in disaster management.

This satellite will help to build safety hotlines between countries for the faster exchange of information.

This satellite will be launched from Srihari Kota using GSLV vehicle. The total cost for this satellite is 235 crores. The weight of the satellite is 2230 KGs.

Finally, ISRO will make India proud on May 5.
