PM Modi launched UDAN flights

Shimla, April 27: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a first UDAN flight from hill station Shimla to national capital Delhi.

The UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, a scheme to help people to fly cheap to small towns.

It is a key component of the National Aviation Policy (NCAP), will ensure 50 percent of the seats in every flight will have a fare cap of Rs 2,000 per hour. For one hour/500km is capped at Rs2,000 while 30-min journey in a helicopter is charged at Rs2,500.



Besides Air India, the government has chosen SpiceJet, Turbo, Megha Airways, Air Deccan and Air Odisha for the scheme.

On Thursday, the three inaugural flights were launched by the Prime Minister from Shimla-Delhi, Kadapa-Hyderabad, and Nanded-Hyderabad.
