CBI Files FIR Against Ranjit Sinha

NewDelhi April 26: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on April 25 has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against its former director Ranjit Sinha in coal scam for misusing his official position to influence the investigation.

The charges against him are very severe because he involved in Indias biggest and Worst Corruption Scandal of Coal Block Allocation Scam popularly known as Coal-Gate or Coal scam.The Controller Audit General (CAG) has presented in its report that a huge amount of RS 1.82 Lakh Crore to the Central Government.



Although Mr. Sinha didn't involve directly in the scam his role was confirmed when Supreme Court has Ordered the investigation to the visitors dairy he maintained.The diary contains details about the suspects in coal scam to have met him during the investigation which was under the control of him during the UPA regime. The CBI has filed the FIR against Sinha under the sections of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.

EarlierThe Supreme Court, on 14 May 2015 order, commented that "it was not necessary for Sinha to meet persons accused in the coal block allocation cases when the investigating team is not present".
