Jaitley about unsettled border issue problems

Newyork, April 25: Union Minister Arun Jaitley said that "sometimes problems arise between India and Chinas bilateral relations due to the "unsettled" border issue".

"It is important to solve border problem first so that peace is maintained in both countries. he also said that India will have to bear the consequences of unsettled problems " Jaitley said at the meeting on the Council on Foreign Relations.

Indian Union Finance minister visited New York on Sunday after he attended the annual Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank,

The Minister said that in order to solve Indo -china border problem prime minister Vajpayee and He visited china in 2003 and set up a mechanism to resolve the border issue. Since 2003, that mechanism has not yielded any solution to the problem ." he also said that there were 19 rounds of meetings between the Special Representatives of the two countries.but these meetings couldn't offer any solutions.

The Defence Minister said that India has a very strong growing relationship with China. "Our economic relationship has risen significantly. There is a huge increase in the amount of trade between India and China that is taking place. Jaitley's remarks come amid differences between India and China on a host of issues.

The Minister's words assume significance because of recent tensions developed between India and China recently because of the Dalai Lama's visit to Arunachal Pradesh and Beijing's move to give official names to six places in the Arunachal Pradesh and claimed their territory.

The Minister also spoke about various other issues which include political leadership in the country, the role of Pakistan in sentencing a former navy officer to death .minister also cautioned NGOS saying that if they don't follow rules their foreign funding will be stopped.
