No luggage stamping at Airports

New Delhi, April 23: The Central Industrial Security Force(CISF) has taken a decision to eliminate the stamping of luggage at six more airports -Chennai, Patna, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, Lucknow and Jaipur from Tuesday.

The decision has been taken after the first trial, at the airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Cochin, begun on April 1, proved successful, with "no passenger complaints" and the CISF "saving a lot of time".

Sources said the move had been given a thumbs up by the AAI and airport operators.

CISF director general O P Singh told media that the force was "running a second trial run from April 24 until April 30 at six more airports. The passengers' cabin baggage will not be stamped as extra high definition CCTV cameras have been installed at these places to segregate suspected bags".
