Supreme Court rejects PIL to bring back Kohinoor Diamond

New Delhi April 22: Hopes of 130 crore Indians were dashed to earth when supreme court yesterday dismissed a PIL seeking the court to give orders to UK government to return the Kohinoor diamond or stop auctioning it.

As we all know that Kohinoor diamond is Indias most precious and most valuable diamond .but it lies with the Britain government.

Going into the details the PIL was filed by an NGO, the All India Human Rights and Social Justice Front, and Heritage Bengal, were taken up together by the court yesterday.

The pleas had said India has a lost a diamond with over 200 years of history to Britishers. Even after achieving independence Indian governments at the Centre have made no attempt to bring back the Kohinoor diamond from the United Kingdom to India.

The court made it clear it could not pass an order with regard to a property which was in another country.Rejecting the plea Chief Justice J S Khehar said it cannot ask a foreign government not to auction a property.

The government of India responded to PIL by submitting an affidavit to the Supreme Court stating that Kohinoor diamond was a Gift given by Indian rulers to the Britishers.

The supreme court said that it is a matter of relations with external countries and the judicial authority doesn't permit the court to give orders.
