Kerala Schools to have Malayalam subject

Kerala, April 12: The Kerala government has bought a new emergency ordinance, which states that, The teaching of Malayalam language is must and should in all schools in the state for all classes up to class X, with irrespective of Syllabus.

The decision will be implemented from the next academic year(2017-2018) onwards, which was assured by the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Speaking to media, Vijayan said that,"The ordinance was sent for the governor approval and it has granted on Tuesday".

He said that "The Malayalam subject is not compulsory for students, who came from other states (or) foreign countries to study the Class X"

The ordinance will be applicable to all CBSE/ICSE existing schools.If some schools have failed to follow Kerala govt rules, then they will be fined up to Rs.5000 and cancelled their NOC (No Objection Certificate), Vijayan added.
