Youth today is very mature: Neelesh Misra

New Delhi, March 18:Author, Bollywood director, scriptwriter, lyricist and photographer Neelesh Misra, who was on a city tour to promote the art of story telling amongst the youth of the country, says the youth of today "is very mature".

Misra has been narrating stories on his show "Qisson Ka Kona" and "Time Machine with Neelesh Misra" on Saavn.

Do you think the youth today is patient enough to listen to stories?

"I too thought that my audience would be people 30-35 years and above, people like me... but actually I was proven wrong. The audience is 13-24 years-old which was very pleasantly shocking. My youngest listener is 5-years-old and oldest is grandparents. Even when we went to a college, the response was just fascinating. The principal of the college was so surprised that all were listening to my stories with interest. I have no misconceptions about the youth. The youth of today is very mature" Misra told IANS here.

The lyricist of hit songs like "Lamha Lamha", "Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai" and "Zindagi (Reprise)" says that the young listener today might be listening to artistes and genre like that of Honey Singh but that doesn't stop them from being interested in stories either.

"You cannot plan these things, it's a strange quirk of destiny that the CEO and his or her driver, South Delhi customer and her tailor as well as the person in Sopore in Kashmir or the person in Mumbai... All of them listen to the stories and relate. So I feel that the young listener of the country has a split personality. They love the Honey Singhs of the world but they also hear our stories passionately. They cry with us, laugh with us," Misra said.
