SSC paper leaked through WhatsApp

Amaravathi March 18: A leaked SSC Exam paper is going viral in the social network WhatsApp here on Thursday.

While going to matter. The first day of the SSC Board exams was marred by a paper leak scandal in Anantapur district on Friday. Police launched a probe following reports that a screen shot of Telugu Paper-I was being circulated through WhatsApp a short while after the exam started.

Initial reports suggested that the screen shot of the question paper had originated from Chilamathur mandal headquarters but as the inquiry progressed, it emerged that it was being circulated from a mobile phone of one Ilyas Ahmed. Police tried in vain to arrest Ahmed, who later surrendered in the evening.

Based on the code printed on the leaked question paper, police concluded that it had come out from an exam centre located in Madakasira mandal headquarters.

"We could establish that the leak happened from Government Boys High School, Madakasira. The invigilator responsible for it and the student whose question paper was photographed and shared through WhatsApp have been identified," said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity.

Sources said the accused (invigilator) was suspended with immediate effect and the student barred from exams for the next five years.

"So far we have no evidence to show that the paper was leaked from Chilamathur. To probe the Madakasira angle, we are following a trail of messages to reach the culprit," said Penukonda DSP Subba Rao.
