KTR questioned central government

Hyderabad March 18: On Thursday central government announced the loan waiver scheme for Uttar Pradesh farmers on this Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao questioned central government.

Continuing his scathing attack against the Central government, Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao on Friday questioned the BJP's double standard in the implementation of the loan waiver scheme.

"It is surprising that the BJP announced loan waiver for farmers in Uttar Pradesh after having given a long lecture on the financial pitfalls of such schemes when the Telangana government approached the Centre for assistance to implement the farm loan waiver scheme in the State. We still went ahead and implemented the farm loan waiver scheme costing Rs 17,000 crore with all sincerity," the minister said during the discussion on the State Budget in the State Legislative Council.

"Is it that only UP farmers are farmers and those in Telangana State are not," the Minister asked, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should apply the same yardstick to all States when it comes to development. "Modi should remember that he is the Prime Minister of the entire country," he said.
